Columbus

Christopher Columbus was a hero during his time period because of all the great things he accomplished. He is credited with discovering the New World in 1492 when his ship came upon what was later called the Bahamas. He then proceeded to land in Cuba and to what he thought were the Indies but was wrong. Columbus did a lot of things to advance the exploration of the new world and should really be considered a hero for the things he accomplished.

I guess you could say he's really only a hero because he helped to discover new lands. In all actuality though, he's really a villian because he became a greedy sucker when he discovered all the treasures in the new lands.

Columbus did discover new lands and was considered to be a great adventurer but he never actually landed on an American continent and even if he had vikings had already landed in Canada years earlier, so you cant give Columbus all the credit for finding the new world

Yeah you're right, Columbus did discover some new lands. And yes indeed, he was quite a marvel for this time period. However, he was a villain in many ways by stealing the native people's lands, women, foods, and gave them diseases.

Columbus discovered new lands, but they were believed to be India when it was actually in the Americas. All of the people back in Europe and the homelands held him to be a great hero because of this but he did commit atrocious acts while in the Americas, leading people to say that he is a villain.
